Motion MC4

The most compact in-ceiling speaker in the MartinLogan Motion series; the MC4 is also one of the most versatile. The stunning clarity of its Folded Motion Tweeter paired with a lightweight woven fiberglass woofer all wrapped up in a built-in enclosure means you get incredible, and predictable sound exactly where you want it. Perfectly suited for a whole house music system, a dedicated home theater or even as a low-profile height effect channel, the MC4 is a fantastic all-around performer.
Motion MC6

By far the most popular size for in-ceiling speakers, the MC6 features a 6.5” woofer with higher power handling, greater output capability, and improved bass response over the smaller MC4. This model works without a built-in enclosure to allow the speaker to use more airspace for higher performance. For applications where sound control is desired, an optional retrofittable back enclosure is available separately. As with all Motion series CI speakers, the MC6 uses MartinLogan’s signature Folded Motion Tweeter for precise clarity and incredible realism to meet all your entertainment needs.
Motion MC6-HT

The MC6-HT is the angled version of the MC6. By designing the speaker with a fixed tweeter and woofer angle, we were able to tune the performance of the speaker far more accurately than universal pivoting designs. The MC6-HT is recommended for applications where the listener will spend most of their time not directly underneath the speaker. For example, when being used as the front or center speaker in a home theater, the listener is typically around 10 feet or farther away, yet typical in ceiling speakers are pointing straight down placing the sweet spot directly in front of the screen. By angling the drivers towards the listener, a very noticeable increase in performance is realized.
Motion MC8

If you desire even more output and bass response than the MC6, the 8” MC8 is the obvious choice. Featuring the same Folded Motion Tweeter and woven fiberglass woofer as the rest of the Motion CI models, the MC8 is all about “more.” MC8 can handle more power, produce more output, and deliver more bass when the fullest performance is desired. An optional retrofittable back enclosure is available for applications where sound control is needed.
Motion MW6

Featuring a 6.5” woofer, the MW6 is one of the most popular sizes of in-wall speakers. As with all Motion CI speakers, you will find the incredible Folded Motion Tweeter and woven fiberglass woofers that provide an incredible listening experience that won’t break the bank. Whether your goal is to create a great sounding two-channel system, a state-of-the-art home theater or even just crystal-clear background music, the MW6 is a great performing speaker with an endless list of applications.

One of the most compact in-wall speakers in MartinLogan history, the MW4-LCR expertly blends high performance and maximum flexibility. The MW4-LCR is a true “Left, Center, Right” speaker that can be used as a front, surround or center channel wherever high quality sound and a small footprint are desired.

Folded Motion® Tweeters
MartinLogan's signature Folded Motion Tweeter utilizes an extremely low-mass diaphragm that "squeezes" air, thus requiring significantly less excursion than the typical 1-inch dome tweeter. Its folded design allows for a much larger surface area (compared to that of a regular 1-inch dome tweeter), controlled dispersion characteristics, and vanishingly low distortion. It's a miracle of audio engineering that delivers much of the high-frequency detail, speed and response of a large, dynamic electrostatic panel in a small space.
This thin-film transducer design packs all the accuracy and delicacy of an electrostatic panel into a small space. Folding the dramatically lightweight film into an accordion-like structure increases the surface area, giving Folded Motion tweeters eight to ten times greater surface area than typical tweeters. This ideal combination of light and large produces superior accuracy, extended frequency bandwidth and higher output capability; all with a faster, more efficient transient response, and virtually zero distortion. In these characteristics, the Folded Motion Tweeter design can mimic the performance of a large electrostatic panel in the confines of a more traditional loudspeaker enclosure.

MartinLogan Motion XT CI in-wall and in-ceiling speakers feature Controlled Dispersion to improve the clarity and overall quality of your music and media. Room acoustics are extremely important. Everything in the listening room has an impact on the sound of your speakers so we try to minimize the things that can cause harm to let you hear exactly what you are supposed to.
Our design and engineering ensure that sound is focused where you want it. We do this by creating a specific area where sound is heard most clearly, bordered by a falloff zone where volume decreases smoothly and rapidly. This can help keep the sound within the room and makes your media room a place where rich and full sound can be enjoyed without disturbing those in other parts of the home. Does your room have a vaulted ceiling?
Vaulted ceilings are popular in many homes both large and small, and they present a challenge to designers of in-ceiling speakers.
MartinLogan meets that challenge with our Folded Motion Tweeter (FMT). This remarkable device produces incredibly detailed sound that can be directed precisely where it’s needed, preventing sound from bleeding into other parts of the home. Motion XT CI in-ceiling speakers use the FMT to project sound into specific areas of the room which makes them ideal for object-oriented systems like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro3D. The film’s audio effects work in sync with the visual elements, so the sound literally comes from all directions, around and above the listener. The FMT helps project those effects down into the room preventing the height channels from losing clarity and output over distance or otherwise “getting lost” in the room like traditional speakers can. This same concept applies to the in-wall channels. By focusing the sound on the actual seating area and not wasting energy on spaces where no one is sitting (IE: the ceiling) we achieve greater sound quality by removing unwanted sound reflections while simultaneously reducing the potential for distracting amounts of sound to travel into unwanted areas of your home.
Micro-Perforated Grilles
All Motion CI models feature an ultra-low profile, paintable, micro-perforated grilles with no visible bezel for a near-invisible integration into any wall or ceiling. A series of powerful magnets hidden inside the speaker quickly secure grilles into place, reducing the risk of warping or damage during installation. Optional square grilles are available for the MC8, MC6-HT, MC6 and MC4.
Hand-Selected Components
In designing each crossover topology, we take the drivers themselves into consideration. Carefully selected drivers, engineered for specific performance characteristics, are kept within their optimal frequency range by the custom Vojtko Crossover.
Each crossover is handcrafted using exceptional polypropylene and polyester capacitors, custom wound and large steel laminate low-DCR inductors, and double thick PCBs. This precision-tuned network preserves even the most microscopic sonic nuances while handling the full dynamics of any source. It's a recipe for vanishingly low distortion and seamless driver integration.
The most critical aspect of a Vojtko Crossover design is the final voicing, always conducted in a real-world environment. This uniquely pragmatic approach guarantees that even the most amazing MartinLogan loudspeakers deliver Truth in Sound in any room, including yours.
