I was in no way expecting that an outdoor system could make me forget my high-fidelity indoor audio system. That was until I installed the MartinLogan Outdoor Living Series system in my own backyard. This system uses multiple satellites and an excellent subwoofer to evenly fill your space with full-range audio that can stand up to the sound quality you get from even very fine indoor systems. This is not hyperbole on my part. I wish all our readers could experience the MartinLogan Outdoor Living sound first hand for themselves.

In terms of being able to express detail at both very quiet and very loud volumes, and jump between them quickly, they are absolutely extraordinary. Movie soundtracks and orchestral music, in particular, are known for testing the dynamic range of speakers; when you put any of this music through the 35XTi speakers, great things happen. Dynamo 1600X

MartinLogan Dynamo 1600X subwoofer test: ⚡️ true thunderer

[Translated from Russian] I wipe away the tears and turn on the optimized tuning with ARC. The bass becomes even clearer, appears (although it is very difficult to make such an association with the sounds of gunfire and explosions) texture and, oddly enough, even more “meat”. The capabilities of the subwoofer are more than enough: you can not only raise / lower the level of low frequencies, but actually adjust the scale of the sound picture. Management from the application is very convenient - it is concise, but everything is in its place, everything is logical and simple.

Martin Logan EM-ESL HiFi loudspeaker test: the elegance of the forms and the transparency of the sound of electrostatics [FRENCH]

[Translated] A big surprise for HiFi speakers of this price. They combine qualities of naturalness, of definition, of homogeneity as of speed that we meet only too rarely in this budget. Be careful though, and given their transparency, to feed them, the choice of a quality amp will be essential. Their good performance allows them to marry an amp in Class A, tube or other problem-free, depending on what each future owner will wish to obtain as a general tone. They do not need a lot of power, but they need a quality device. In conclusion, these Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL deserve an ON-topaudio Award, we offer it with undisguised pleasure. Dynamo 800X

MartinLogan Dynamo 800X Powered Subwoofer

MartinLogan’s Dynamo 800X is the first subwoofer I’ve reviewed that combines digital control, signal connection, and room correction—all three wirelessly—in a small, powerful package. I heard no difference between the wireless and wired connections, and once I’d found good positions for the Dynamos, set their output level correctly, and identified their optimal crossover frequencies, their sound seamlessly blended with that of my Quad electrostatics, deepening the ESL-989s’ soundstages and deep-bass extension and expanding their dynamic range, and enhancing their three-dimensionality, all at a price far below that of larger subwoofers I’ve reviewed.

Dynamo 1600X

Martin Logan Dynamo 1600X: Hidden Talents

The Martin Logan Dynamo 1600X is the kind of subwoofer that can make even cynics like me consider the virtues of a sub in a stereo context. So poised, so seamlessly integrated is its contribution in a stereo role that it’s hard not to acknowledge the sonic benefits. The 1600X has the bass talent, the energy and the finesse to augment rather than interfere, while the combination of the ARC and the Martin Logan Sub Control apps allows exceptional integration and convenient control, regardless of room and system variances. Of course, the 1600X also excels in a home theatre context. Indeed, its ability to occupy an equally effective role in both multichannel and stereo systems is a further, major attraction, while amortising its acquisition cost across both applications.

Dynamo 1100X

Martinlogan Dynamo 1100X Subwoofer Review

When doing initial research for this review, I was surprised to learn that subwoofers have become MartinLogan’s best- selling product. I’ve always thought of MartinLogan as the electrostatic speaker company, but with a subwoofer as great-sounding and flexible as the Dynamo 1100X, it’s no wonder that subs have become a key part of their business. This latest generation of Dynamos will surely consolidate that success, and with the company’s app-based remote control and Anthem Room Correction, you won’t need a youngest-child helper to turn the knobs.

MartinLogan’s ESL-X Show Why Electrostatic Loudspeakers are so Beloved

While listening, it brought to mind what may be the best part of listening to the ESL-X speakers: They are forgiving enough to deliver the traits I’ve already mentioned, without sacrificing quality. What I mean by that is that is that some speakers sound good with classical music, others sound good with rock and pop. Throw anything at the ESL-X and I think they will deliver high levels of enjoyment that will make you forget that you are critically listening. Impression ESL 11A

Ein Drucks Voll / Impressive [GERMAN]

[Translated] All this made the MartinLogan Impression ESL 11A in the important disciplines of neutrality and detail reach sensationally with the great Renaissance. Their larger foil area, however, still gave them tiny advantages in spatial imaging. The more voluminous woofers were able to produce even richer levels with even deeper bass.

[Translated] This musical epic proposes a few layers of keyboards, including the famous Mellotron which through the ESL 9 has no difficulty in installing a non-removable seat. The walls seem so far away that I completely forget the characteristics of the room in which I find myself. An irrefutable proof of the immersive effect which these MartinLogan provide me, is the fact that I constantly forget that I am doing an evaluative product review, thus rendering note taking a secondary action.

Expression ESL 13A

MartinLogan Expression 13A Electrostatic Speaker Review with ARC

The MartinLogan Expression 13A are the kind of speakers you can easily forget. That is a high compliment for a speaker review. Once in place and supported by proper room treatment, and perhaps a little room correction for ultimate smoothness and ideal SS&I - don't forget about the optional ARC correction built in - I predict most listeners will quickly become comfortable with the inability to find the 13A in the room - they can disappear that completely - and become completely sonically unobtrusive in their systems. The Expression 13A are another example of Electrostatic Magic from the Electrostatic Wizards at MartinLogan. I highly recommend them.

...a strong and vibrant well staged sound, with crisp and controlled treble married to a strong stable midrange – for their price and size they do a remarkable job and have a sheer enthusiasm for instruments and vocals rather than punchier electronica. They won’t ever get caught in a speed trap, but the top-end has great pace and the bottom-end doesn’t lag behind or ever seem slow, balancing nicely for a more natural presentation. Overall characterisation is slightly smooth, un-offensive and particularly pleasing in a smaller sized room. The design and finish is great and the included grills protect the delicate ribbon from little hands and is also non-offensive or detrimental to the sound.

Motion 35XT

MARTINLOGAN MOTION 35XT STANDMOUNT LOUDSPEAKER

The MartinLogan Motion 35XT succeeds in ticking pretty much every box on the small-speaker wish list: easy to drive and easy to live with, but can really grow with your system, a sound that is detailed and open but also genuinely solid and musically convincing, and a speaker that is entertaining and informative at the same time. The perfect alternative for the high-end music lover looking for a second system or stand-in, it’s also the hair-shirt audiophile’s starter speaker par excellence – except that it might just embarrass the speakers in more than a few big, high-end systems and lacks the basic appearance so important for budget–esoteric credibility. Let’s face it, speakers this pretty (and this affordable) really shouldn’t sound this good, be this engaging, or this much fun. These are baller speakers... The soundstage is huge and all-encompassing, and literally makes you feel like you’re sitting in the front row of a concert... Plenty of dynamics... Leading edges of notes were lightning fast... Spatial imaging of every ‘whack’ on a drum’s skin was etched into the air between the speakers... I laughed several times at how enjoyable this system sounded and how it gave you absolutely no choice but to rock out with it. To me, this wasn’t hi fi per se, it was an experience like no other I’ve had from a two-way stereo. And at this price point, it should be. Once I was exposed to them, there was little doubt that they were hands-down the “Best Two Channel Sound” at the show... The Neolith’s sound was alive and shockingly large. It was perfectly balanced and transparent. Dynamic and delicious... As much fun as it was to listen to the Neoliths effortlessly deliver sonic grace, I began to wonder if listening to them was a mistake. Experiencing perfection can make everything else seem so ordinary and that becomes frustrating when perfection comes from a speaker that falls in the realm of unobtanium. Ah, whom am I kidding? I can’t claim that the MartinLogan BalancedForce 210s are the end-alls in low-end reproduction, or that they will fool you into thinking there is an actual standup or electric bass sitting in your living room. What I can say is that they have brought me much closer to the real thing and made me a believer in subwoofing. Now that the 210s are in my listening room, my music–and not just music where bass is prominent–has taken on a new life. The bass flows into the midrange and vice versa as if you are listening to one drive unit, not two different technologies. Ethos

MartinLogan Ethos Electrostatic Hybrid Loudspeakers

Great looks, advanced engineering, beautiful fabrication by craftspeople in the US, reasonably pricing and musical beguilement — the Ethos shows how MartinLogan’s concerted efforts in introducing novel technologies have paid off in terms of addressing the electrostatic design’s various inherent Achilles’ heels. The MartinLogan ElectroMotion’s usual approach to speaker design pays dividends with a movie performance that’s simply out of this world. Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL – Review

I must say that I fell in love with these speakers and I hope that one day I will own a pair of my own. They became a reference for me in many departments. I felt that the Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL could easily beat speakers more than twice or even triple their price. I even felt like they have some very strong points compared to >25$k speakers. They are really something special and they deserve all of your attention.

ElectroMotion ESL

MOTION SENSING . . .

It’s hard not like a loudspeaker such as this. The things it does well, it does brilliantly, and they’re a vital part of the musical transmission chain – tonal accuracy, spatial imaging, transient speed, microdynamics... the new ElectroMotion raises the game for a hybrid of this price. Overall then, the Electromotion is a superb and relatively affordable (in the context of high end, at least) new loudspeaker.

MartinLogan ElectroMotion Loudspeaker Reviewed

the MartinLogan ElectroMotion loudspeakers are not only an incredible value but an incredible loudspeaker system. I've encountered no speaker at or even a few ticks above the ElectroMotion's asking price that possess the same transparency, articulation, speed and natural tone. When adequately powered, the breadth in which the ElectroMotions render a soundstage is stunning and their dynamic capabilities all but crush previous, affordable MartinLogan designs.

ElectroMotion ESL

Martin Logan's ElectroMotion ESL are speakers that invite us on exciting musical travels... They generate an unusually live atmosphere and, within a decent sweet spot, very precise imaging and exacting depth layering embedded within an above-average dimensional scale. Tonally well balanced and subjectively seamless, the stats combine silky highs, a detailed dynamic midband and articulate if not ultimately voluminous bass. It's a terrific choice for music lovers hoping to feast on an arrestingly involving presentation...

Mikros 90

MartinLogan Mikros 90 Reference On-Ear Headphones Review

making these headphones one of the best for very detailed music listening. These are professional headphones so they are quite different compared to a pair of Monster headphones, or Beats. In terms of audio quality, the Mikros 90 caters more towards those who enjoy detailed music, and like to listen to the highs and mids of a song, rather then commercially tuned music that is usually very bass heavy... The Mikros 90 also has excellent noise-cancellation, allowing for a great listening experience even in noisy public places. If this sounds like your style of cans, you can’t really go wrong...

BalancedForce 212

MartinLogan BalancedForce 212 Subwoofer

The BF212 is one of those rare subwoofers that can be described as essential. It delivers uncompromised bass with clarity, accuracy, and an utter lack of colorations. Once it’s been tuned to a room with ML’s Perfect Bass Kit, there’s a high likelihood that you’ll never need another sub. Never… it is my judgment that the BalancedForce 212 is in a class with the best subs available to the home-audio enthusiast. MartinLogan Motion Vision Soundbar Review

In my opinion, the Vision is a superb soundbar that gets many things right. It can go loud, sounds great, looks modern, and has a surprising amount of bass. It really shines when listening to music, but is no slacker when watching movies either. Still, I kept coming back to its musicality, which was far beyond any other soundbar I have heard... If you are looking for a soundbar that can turn your non-believer friends into cult-like fanatics about soundbars, the Vision might be your answer. Big Sound for Small Spaces: 4 Sound Bars Reviewed

Close your eyes while the Motion Vision is playing and it's easy to forget you're listening to a single 40-inch speaker. Even in a medium-sized room, this soundbar packed an auditory wallop comparable to systems three times its size... But it wasn't just this soundbar's brute force that impressed. Unlike plenty of other units I've tested, dialogue in movies and TV shows was always balanced, uncolored, and crystal clear. Throw in a satisfyingly wide soundstage and you have a truly rare thing in the soundbar world -- a speaker that sounds fantastic regardless of the source.

MartinLogan Motion Vision Soundbar Reviewed

Not only has MartinLogan built a soundbar in the form of the Motion Vision, they've arguably built the best soundbar I have heard yet... The Motion Vision's build quality is superb, looking every bit as high-end a product as anything MartinLogan has made to date. Its sonic capability is also unparalleled, as it possesses the scale and definition of a set of discrete loudspeakers, yet manages to confine that sound to a single cabinet... Summit X

MartinLogan Summit X

The key point is that a planar transducer is able to synthesize the impression of a height perspective with reasonable realism, whereas a small midrange or mid-woofer driver tends to collapse image size to a tidy point within the soundstage. Perhaps it’s a personal preference or a question of being within one’s comfort zone, but when I kick back to enjoy the music it’s far easier for me to accept the Summit’s version of reality. No subwoofers need apply. I’ve had no interest in complicating matters with an external subwoofer. And why should I with bass extension approaching 20Hz and superlative midbass dynamics. My enthusiasm for the Summit X has not diminished over the past several years. Speakers have come and gone, but it is still one of the main pillars of my reference system, and in my estimation, a classic in the making.

MARTIN LOGAN SUMMIT X LOUDSPEAKER REVIEW

For me, Martin Logan’s biggest XStat panel is a tour-de-force of loudspeaker engineering – one that works every bit as well as they claim, measurement and listening show. You simply cannot get better clarity than this, you can’t get a more even sound free from phasiness and you’ll never hear violin sounding as it is meant to, except from this big XStat panel. It’s line source nature paints up a massive sound stage, one on which images are pin sharp. Again, I’ve never heard better – and I cannot imagine being able to… Loudspeakers don't get much better than this

Panel Games

The beauty of the MartinLopgan Montis is the absence of vice. Contrary to what some ageing punk rockers might believe, that doesn’t make it boring – the true and upstanding performance, unsullied by deviant behaviour of its mechanical bits, means you simply get closer to the music. No bad thing, surely? If you’re looking for a ‘character speaker’ then this isn’t it. If you want a big box to make everything sound loud and proud, larger than life and better than the original recording, then move on. Instead, the Montis gives an altogether more rarefied pleasure, the satisfaction of having something that takes you right into the recording, in all its beauty.

Being a huge fan of electrostatic speakers, I have always been worried about dealing with the center channel, because there weren't any electrostatic center channel speakers available that covered the high frequencies as well as the midrange. Dynamo 1500X

Martin Logan Dynamo 1500X Subwoofer Review

Virtually everyone has heard the phrase "you can't have your cake and eat it too"... With a subwoofer that saying generally holds true when talking about size versus depth/extension; a small subwoofer can't possibly produce significant amounts of deep bass, can it? In the case of Martin Logan's new Dynamo 1500X the answer would be Yes, you can have your cake and eat it too. The cabinet is not at all large -- even for an acoustic suspension subwoofer with a 12" driver, let alone one with a 15" driver -- yet the depth and composure it's capable of is simply amazing… It's not inexpensive, but it is certainly capable of some impressive bass. The 'Dynamo' name proved to be apt, that's for sure. With the flattest frequency response I've measured in a long time, this Martin Logan subwoofer is one very impressive unit.

The 1500X is absolutely rock solid in that sense.
