I purchased these jewels in 1991 and they are in superb condition today. They have not been used as much as I would like over that time but they have been cared for greatly. In this last month, I have pulled out my treasured vinyl collection with some disks that are not available anywhere anymore that could be sold for more than $10,000.00 each. My system with the Quests literally brought tears to my eyes with the realism and dynamics that my purchase of Martin Logan was intended for. Family and friends stood in amazement that sound reproduction was this good back in the 90s. Thank you Martin Logan for 30 plus years of incredible sound reproduction investment.

Very good balance
I debated where the request would be a better speaker or the quest or even the quest z. It all boils down to acoustics. Only your room and it's items can determine the sound properly. I like the quest for a larger room. My room was 13 by 23 feet. They perform almost flawlessly. Still a slight lack in mid base but much much better than the sequel II which kind of squeal at you around the 2.5 kHz range. Thus overshadowing critical details in the music.

May outlast me
I bought my Quests about 20 years ago and they're still going strong. Early on, I had a voice coil failure in one of the woofers, but no problems of any kind since then. Well, except for the cabinet paint, which softened into a tacky mess after a few years. The speakers were disassembled, stripped and repainted, with all new gasket material from M-L. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a boutique class A amplifier to make these speakers sing. I've used an Adcom 5800 for many years with superb results.

Astounding!
Up until a year ago when I first heard my friends ReQuests, I never thought much of consumer hi-fi, (I'm a pro sound reinforcement technician). Even high end consumer gear didn't impress me (especially for the price). But the ReQuests just blew me away with their clarity and power! Since I can't justify >$5000.00 for speakers, I found a pair of Quests on Ebay for a very reasonable price. (very similar to ReQuests). I've since picked up a set of SL3's that are now my rear surrounds, all Bryston powered. It's like being a kid again! (I'm 53). Now I'm searching for re-masters and 5.1 mixes of the great music I listened to while growing up in the 70's. One down side: Martin Logan speakers are so "pure" that marginal recordings sound, well.... marginal. (and there are unfortunately a lot of marginal recordings out there). Some of the best: (just a small sampling) The Genesis remixed box set (1970 - 1975). Jethro Tull Aqualung 40th anniversary (mixed by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree). And just about anything by Porcupine Tree! Thanks Martin Logan for building such amazing speakers! You've re-affirmed my faith in home hi-fi speakers. And - MADE IN THE USA.

Wonderful Quest
After using JM Labs for many years, I was still searching for that unforgettable sound. I came upon a really mint pair of Quests that were better taken care of than you could imagine! The changes I made were buying brand new panels in June only to realize that they were defective!!! However, the distributor in Canada (Plurison) contacted Jim and they sent me a brand new pair no hassles!! I was amazed at this type of service. Thank you to both of you. They sound incredible. I also modified the crossovers. Everything else (including the woofers) was perfect. I love the sound of a big paneled speaker and the mid range of the Quest is the best I have ever heard besides the new CLX! Very satisfied!
