Walls are a hindrance to any Wi-Fi signal, and the more there are, the worse the signal and transmission rates become. Adding additional access points to your network that are closer to your speakers will allow you to cover more of your house in Wi-Fi and also generally improve your signal quality. If possible, wire these access points to your main router for best Play-Fi performance.
Areas where there are a lot of tile, pipes, metal, or water can cause interference with wireless signals.
Areas with high levels of wireless interference can interfere with the performance of your network. Things like Bluetooth, wireless phones, and even appliances like microwaves operate on the 2.4GHz spectrum.
